photography project inspired by questions of belonging, vulnerability, and escape: What does a perfect world look like? Where can I freely express myself?
A MOVING TIMESCAPE
For this project, I created a photostory inspired by Walter Van Beirendonck’s Otherworldly collection for fall ‘22. After analyzing the designer and three key looks and asking myself questions, The questions led me to photography experiments and research into queer culture and nightlife. Dancing and nightlife are significant sources of inspiration for me, offering an ultimate sense of freedom and joy. Within the queer community, as well as among other groups and individuals who may not be fully accepted by society, there is often a deep quest for spaces of freedom and acceptance. This project is about exploring those safe spaces—places where one can be their true self or whoever they wish to be, without shame or fear.
With this project, I aim to inspire people to break free from expectations and opinions, encouraging them to take the leap and explore their authentic selves, even though it can BE such a scary step.
